Consumer Reference GroupWorking Closely with the Community
The Division has a committed and enthusiastic Consumer Reference Group (CRG) which meets four times a year under the coordination of Pina Versace. The Group brings many consumer issues to the attention of the Division. These matters are then fielded to the coordinator of the relevant program or to the relevant GP Board member to deal with.
The Division believes that consumer participation at all levels of health care assists to maintain high quality general practice services. Consumer input also enables health services to become more aware of health needs in the community.
The purpose of the CRG is to:
· Represent community organisations and individuals to share information with GPs and the Division.
· Build relationships between GPs, consumers and the Division to enhance the quality and relevance of general practice.
· Provide input into the Division’s health related activities.
· Increase awareness as to how a general practice functions.
The CRG is currently made up of members from a wide variety of consumer groups within the community such as mental health advocacy, Milligan, carers support, RSL, prison health and wellbeing, community services and our GP Board representative, Dr Paul King
