WA GP Education & Training

In WA, GP Registrar Training is coordinated by the Western Australian General Practice Education and Training Ltd, otherwise known as WAGPET.

Whilst WAGPET administers the program, the Division (and on behalf of GP Down South) delivers the educational program, for the whole of the south west area.

The aim of the program is to empower GP Registrars with knowledge and skills to:
• Undertake competent, unsupervised general practice,
• Meet the community’s health needs,
• Support the current and future goals of the health care system.

The training program is a three year, full time, apprentice style program during which time there is a need to complete twelve 13 week training units. Education sessions are delivered locally on a regular basis by local General Practitioners.
