Immunisation

The Immunisation Program was established to support GPs to increase awareness and improve immunisation levels throughout Australia. Given the importance of the GPs role regarding the effective delivery of immunisation in the general practice setting, immunisation has become a priority with the introduction of the Australian Children’s Immunisation Register (ACIR).

The objectives of the Immunisation Program are to:

  •  Improve the immunisation levels within the Greater Bunbury area by encouraging all practices to be part of the General Practice Immunisation Incentive (GPII) scheme and thereby improve reporting of immunisation to ACIR.
  • Provide support to all practices in following up children who have been identified as having an incomplete immunisation status.
  • Monitor Cold Chain practises within the GP practice.
  • Ensure immunisation information provided to patients is current and research based.
  • Encourage all practices to access the ACIR Internet sites.
  • Improve the quality of immunisation services.
  • Improve integration of the GP with other existing organisations for the delivery of immunisation services.
